One of the finest wines I remember from Dominio de Atauta is an old vintage bottle of La Roza I drank one day with the previous owner. So, I was excited when they told me this time we'd taste the 2013 La Roza, produced with grapes from three plots in the La Roza zone of the Atauta Valley that are thought to be some 160 years of age. All the processes follow biodynamic principles, and the wine was bottled after 19 months in second use French barriques. It was closed and felt really tight, but it has the most elegant texture and impressive palate of all the wines. Unfortunately, this is one of those almost virtual wines, as only 295 numbered bottles were filled in September 2015. As with San Juan, the price for this had not yet been decided when I tasted it. Drink 2018-2030. Luis Gutiérrez.
