  • 2021 Chablis Grand Cru, Vaudésir, William Fevre, Domaine

    Robert Parker

The 2021 Chablis Grand Cru Vaudésir wafts from the glass with aromas of pear, peach, oyster shell and vine flowers. Full-bodied, pure and satiny, with a sweet and fleshy core of fruit girdled by tangy acids, it concludes with a long, orange blossom-inflected finish.

    Burghound

Cool and strikingly elegant aromas include those of quinine, white peach, spice and an abundance of classic Chablis notes. The dense yet wonderfully refined medium-weight flavors brim with dry extract on the gorgeously long, balanced and highly complex finale. This is extremely stylish and very promising. 2033+

    Jancis Robinson

Hint of smoke alongside crisp apple and citrus fruit. Long, dense finish - you can feel great potential here, and there's some development already. Drink 2015-2025.

The domaine owns two parcels on the left, or northern side, of the Vaudésir valley for a total of 1 ha 20. These old vines sit up slope and in the pebbles. All of these factors add up to it being one of the first harvests at the domaine. This is vibrant on the nose and rather fullbodied on the palate with its peach and cantaloup aromas highlighted by pastry crust and citrus zest.

From a plot of 1.2 hectares, with south-facing exposition. Quite a delicate, elegant grand cru yet there is good volume on the palate, with lingering notes of subtle spices and bright acidity to keep the palate fresh. Around 50% of the blend was aged in older oak barres. This will need more time in bottle but will be a fine Vaudésir. Precise and long on the aftertaste with some precise mineral notes and a saline finish.
