  • 2021 Chablis Grand Cru, Les Clos, William Fevre, Domaine

    Robert Parker

Aromas of orange zest, peach, oyster shells, white flowers and freshly baked bread preface the 2021 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos, a full-bodied, layered and textural wine of impressive breadth and depth in this vintage, exhibiting considerable concentration and concluding with a long, electric finish. This will delight Chablis purists.

    Burghound

This too could be from nowhere else other than Chablis with its combination of strong mineral reduction, cool citrus, shellfish and iodine. The dense, opulent and powerful large-bodied flavors brim with dry extract that imparts a sappy texture to the lemony and massively long finish. Not surprisingly for a classic Les Clos, this super effort is very much built-to-age and a wine that I would advise not touching for at least 6 to 8 years first. 2033+

    Decanter

The 2020 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos is another brilliant effort from Fèvre's immensely able winemaker, Didier Seguier, and his team. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of confit citrus, fresh bread, oyster shell, orange zest and crisp orchard fruit, it's full-bodied, satiny and muscular, with a concentrated, tensile profile and a long, intensely saline finish. It's the broadest and most powerful wine in the range, while remaining quintessentially Chablisien. Drink Date 2030 - 2055.

    Jancis Robinson

A standout of the William Fèvres - has a broader, richer complexity without sacrificing definition. Well-handled oak with some toasty aspects. Excellent. Drink 2014-2028.

These wines are mostly toward the top of this prestigious Grand Cru slope, planted by William's father. He was a busy man with all the vines he planted in 1947, 1948, 1950 and 1952...and these are the plantings in Les Clos alone! This has everything a great Clos should, from remarkable fruit concentration to tingly freshness and age-worthy vibrancy. Yellow plums and apples mesh with fresh herbs and a light leesy note. This ismy top-scoring Chablis of the 2021 vintage.
