2023 Etna Rosso, Nerello Mascalese, Pietradolce, Etna

    Vinous

The 2023 Etna Rosso Pietradolce is a dark and brooding wine with hints of floral undergrowth and ashy stone that fade into crushed black cherries. The palate is silky smooth, with ripe wild berries and a collage of sweet spices accompanied by juicy acidity. The 2023 leaves a lush primary concentration and a hint of tart blackberry as it finishes with tension.

    Robert Parker

Made with fruit from the estate's youngest vines (aged from 15 to 30 years old), the Pietradolce 2023 Etna Rosso has an informal personality that points to freshness and primary fruit. Winemaking is simple, with fermentation in steel and a very brief three months in French oak. That oak adds more to the overall integration of the wine and is virtually invisible otherwise. Dark cherry, cassis, plum and smoky volcanic ash emerge from the bouquet.

    Falstaff

Bright medium ruby red with a slightly brightening rim. Red currants, Mediterranean herbs and hints of flint and orange zest on the nose. Elegant and finely structured on the palate, with lively acidity and well-integrated fine tannins, with a long finish of herbal savouriness.
